Recipe from Mixel, from the Canon Cocktail Book

15ml Lemon Juice

Shake first 3 ingredients with ice, until chilled, strain to glass (a bigger than Coupe) add 90ml Champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist.
I started making cocktails over a year ago now, and this came up in my memories today. The one I made a year ago, also had Calvados, and I think it was probably a better drink.
This one is very champagne forward, not a favourite of mine.
I personally think champagne is better used as a base for something like a chicken and leek pie.
So I’m into my 14th month of cocktail making. And I think I’ve gotten ok at mixing, but by no means up there with the professionals. I have the time and the energy to make a single drink, under no pressure, nor time constraints. I think if you added those, I might crumble.
Our bars here are still shut, so it will be me, still mixing at home for a while yet. I do look forward to the days getting longer, and if nothing else,at least outside terraces to open.
So here’s to a long balmy spring and summer. 🥂
