The Written Word

Riff on a Last Word

Originally created at the Detroit athletic club in the 1920s, a Last Word, equal parts Gin, Maraschino liqueur, and Green Chartreuse, and Fresh Lime. But tonight, I was looking for a Green Chartreuse forward cocktail, and came upon this little riff.

The twist on the classic pre-Prohibition era cocktail, The Written Word harmoniously blends the citrusy flavours of the Cointreau (which replaces the traditional maraschino liqueur) and lime juice with the herbal notes from the gin and green Chartreuse.

A strong drink, like its relative, the Last Word, punchy, and delectable. Definitely highlights all the ingredients well.

Ingredients
22.5ml Cointreau
22.5ml Lime Juice
22.5ml Gin- I went with The Botanist
22.5ml Green Chartreuse

Garnish
A cherry and lime wheel.
I lashed out, and kept with the theme, by using a green Maraschino Cherry, for aesthetic appeal.

Just a heads up, this is a double recipe, to suit the glass.
