Tonight, in downtown Amsterdam, I’ve made (drum roll please) The Act of Contrition
Recipe from Torgny Nilsson-Tiki Recipes And then adapted from Nashville’s Pinewood Social.
I’ve used The Sample Eleven Blended Rum, which is a rum blend created by Jürgen Vromans (The Whiskey / Rum Mercenary) & Erik Molenaar (Kintra The Rum Collection). This blend consists of two to five years aged rums from Panama, Guyana, Barbados and the Dominican Republic, supplemented with unripened Jamaican rum from the pot still. For added depth and complexity, nineteen year old Caroni and 27 year old Enmore were also added. This Extra Matured Special Edition has matured an additional year in a former Worthy Park cask before being bottled at 54.8%.
- 60ml Sample Eleven Rum- (Scarlet Ibis recommended)
- 15ml Fernet Branca
- 7.5ml Falernum- I used Taylor’s Velvet
- 22.5ml Orgeat
- 22.5ml Fresh Lime Juice
- 7.5ml Demerara Simple Syrup
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
Swizzle first 6 ingredients (except bitters) in a Collins or Rocks glass with crushed ice. Top with additional ice as needed and the dash of bitters. Garnish with a mint sprig.
