Suzette au Bal ( Suzette at the Ball)

I saw Emily Burns had posted this earlier in the year on Craft Cocktail Club, a fb group.
Emily first put me in to Terrible Love, The National(the band) named drink. And that is a great drink.
This is a very Suze forward drink. I used a new mezcal I had recommended from the guys at Cane & Grain here in Amsterdam.

It’s a very padron pepper on the nose forward tequila. It’s not the first time I have imbibed it, but the first time trying it in a cocktail.
All in all, a good drink. Different in that it’s Suze forward. So may not suit all tastes.

  • 30ml Suze Gentian Liqueur
  • 15ml Poire William Liqueur-I used Grey Goose Pear Vodka
  • 10ml Joven Mezcal- I used Derrumbes San Luis Potosí
  • 20ml Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 10ml Simple 2:1
  • 15ml Egg White

Shake all ingredients together with ice and strain back into shaker. DRY SHAKE (without ice) and strain into an ice filled glass.

Garnish
Dehydrated pear slice
I used a lemon twist.

Emily, yes the translation is swapsies from millilitre to ounce. It’s simple in mls.
