An original recipe, by David Jordan Melia @speakeasieruk

I’ve already said a few times how much I love this book- Bohemian Mixology, with its usage of not so traditional spirits as forward flavours. And this is a drink I have been wanting to make for a while now.

Akvavit, or Aquavit, is a Nordic spirit aka The Water of Life. If only that were true, huh?
David tells us, in his book about the history of Aquavit, and it’s quite an interesting story. I can’t retype the whole thing out for you though. He might take exception to my plagiarism.
If you need to know more, buy his book. You won’t be disappointed. @bohemianmixology

David combines Jågermeister in a rather classy kind of drink. It earned an ill deserved reputation from many a hungover student. But it is surprisingly good as an ingredient. It’s also one of the flavoured German bitters.
Add in Green Chartreuse for the third dose of herbal goodness and you are set!

To the drink:-
45ml Orkney Akvavit- I got this by order
30ml Green Chartreuse
30ml Lemon Juice
15ml Jågermeister

Add all your ingredients to shaker, add ice, and shake vigorously for 10-12 seconds.
Strain into glass of choice.

Garnish
None

As David says “a cocktail suitable for the god of the sea himself.”
